Cecil Gargate

Born in Crook in 1922, he enlisted in June 1939 in the 6th Battalion DLI at Crook but did not see active service overseas until 1944, when he joined 16 DLI in Italy. A policeman in civilian life, Cecil Gargate died in Sunderland in 1991, aged 69
